Use of Camtesia tutorial assignment


Use of tutorial in the class room

My assignment on video tutorial using Camtesia which was made on subtraction using based ten blocks gave me another chance to use ICT in the classroom. The confusion my children had on subtraction using based ten blocks was clarified. I could have used such skills before. Even I shared the tutorial with other math teacher and she told me it is very useful for her as well. It enabled her to clarify her doubts too and to teach effectively.

Teaching Rhymes with mobile in the classroom

Although teachers must be multi talented and contented but I am not capable in singing. I am allergic singer. So, I downloaded few English rhymes from free online to teach PP children. But all those rhymes were not appropriate for them because all the words were beyond what they can understand.

Fortunately I happened to get few simple rhymes from one of the faculty in CIE, Yonphula. The most appropriate was about days of the week.

I could teach the name of the days of the week through rhyme with my mobile to PP children. It needs practice. At the beginning children were bit lost because they are not used to music and its rhythm and beats. Later they could sing well.
I used my mobile to teach Days of the Week easily. Children enjoy singing as well learn through singing fun.

I happened to visit a shop in Kanglung and saw a small speaker. I asked if it can be used for playing music with mobile. It was made in China. I bought it for Nu.450. I tried to bargain but it didn’t work. The purpose was to teach dance to children. It was quite fascinating to learn that it can be used as radio as well. WOW! It produces dynamic sound.

The very next day I took it in my class and asked children to dance as brain gym as per the transformative pedagogy. Honestly, I didn’t teach that song and dance. It was already taught by Miss Ugyen few weeks back. Later children practiced dance of their own using it. Actually I have just explored such small speaker but children learn a lot.

Here what I mean to convey is, even a small sound device can help in making a teaching meaningful. Children learn themselves when such facilities are available.

Very Basic computer skills

The school is fortunate to get two sets of new computers this year. With the permission from the principal, staff has decided to keep the old computer in the library room. We discussed that old computer is meant for students to at least use it to;
  • Balance the use of mouse
  • Put on and put off the power
  • Name few parts of the computer
  • Use Microsoft word to type few words
The above objectives were to help children able to use computer better in the higher classes. It is also to promote ICT at primary level, whereby it is expected to create interest towards ICT.
I taught class VI how to use it. In the first lesson, I just introduced name of few computer parts and how to on the power and shut down. Students were thrilled to touch it for the first time. I told them, they would learn to use it more in coming weeks after the LG elections.
